31st Bristol classic car show

1st - 2nd May 2010

The Footman James 31st Bristol Classic Car Show will take place on the Saturday and Sunday of the May Day weekend (1-2 May) at the Royal Bath & West Show Ground, Shepton Mallet.  This will be their biggest and best show yet, with more than 2000 classic cars over the course of the weekend. Together with the pristine classics on the 80 club stands, the hugely popular classic car park will display around 1000 cars each day.

Chevy Rick and I visited on the Saturday. Some very nice vehicles there but we’ve since been to Popham classic meet and I have to say there was a bigger variety of cars in the Popham field than in the sheds at the Shepton Mallet showground.
There were quite a few jumbly stalls but neither of us really bought anything. We did do well with goody bags though and I have enough cranberry jelly, (yes a strange addition to a motor show goody bag), to last me for at least 10 years worth of Christmas Turkeys.
There was an auction there, (it took place on the Sunday I think), but except for a truck, I didn't find the vehicles that exciting. Quite a few machines for sale in the pass-only car park and some lovely vehicles on show there too. There were a few MGAs there, including the one we saw at the Great Western Autojumble in February which I fell in love with.
Overall though, it was a good day and the weather held until the last 10 minutes of our visit -which with the mixed Spring weather we’re having at the moment, can’t be a bad thing.
