New Forest Custom & Classic Car & Bike Meet

30th May 2010

As some of you will be aware, this is the second year of this event. The first being at a local pub, but I didn’t think it was much of a success. So this year we joined up with Matt & Boo, who organise The New Forest Bike Night, held at Gang Warily Recreation & Community Centre, Fawley, Hampshire on Thursday evenings. Bike Night is about raising money for the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, as we planned to do, so as we have similar aims, it made sense to link up and make a day of it. They already had the contacts at the recreation centre & there was plenty of room there for a show, so it was the obvious venue.
A huge & very heartfelt thank you to all those who worked behind the scenes on the day-

Ian at Sunnyfields Farm, who loaned us two generators, tables, chairs, umbrella stands, a fridge, electric cables, burner & dishes.

Matt S & Dave S for collecting & returning everything owned & borrowed from Sunnyfields Farm.

Matt & Julie, (Boo), S, Dave S, Dave C, Roy & Julie M, Mark, John, Dave M, Nicky, Danni, Kirsty & Nick for setting up & breaking down the music marquee, cafe & bouncy castles/rodeo bull etc.

Matt S, Roy, Dave S, Julie, Nicky for running the cafe all day, with extra help when needed from Danni, Teri & Dave C.

Nick, Julie, (Boo), Mark, John, Danni, Kirsty & Teri- gate  & parking marshals.

Dave M for being show ground manager -anything went wrong, he sorted it.

Dave C was in charge of photos & litter, (with many trips to the shops for anything we ran out of).

rodeo bull –Kirsty & John.

Inflatables as well as graphic design of the show flyers were by Michelle S.

Laura of Nocturno handled the music co-ordination.

Several others just jumped in & helped out, including fellow Manky Monkey, Doc who parked up his trike then donned a dayglo vest to help everyone else park in the right places.
We couldn’t have done it without the help of our team & we thank you all.

During the course of the day several people said it was a good turn out & that it was nice to have an event of this type in our local area & when is it happening again? After a long hard think -of about 5 seconds, we’ve agreed to run it again next year, so keep an eye out for details to be published at a later date.
A few of the stalls that were booked didn’t arrive, but I think the 10 that we did have enjoyed their day and are looking forward to doing it again. Through our friends in both the bike & car scenes, we managed to attract a nice mix of vehicles of all types –something for every taste we hope. Cars were directed to the tarmac parking area, while bikes & trikes lined up on the grass below. Fortunately our pleas to the Sun Gods were answered & we were blessed with warm weather all day, which helped to bring in the show goers & vehicle owners alike.
We eventually raised over £500 for the Air Ambulance, so give yourselves a big pat on the back everyone.
As with any event, it was you, who bought along your vehicles, that made it all worthwhile, so thank you all.
See you next time.

Finally, last but definitely not least, the biggest thanks go to my other half , Chrissie & daughter Emily for all their support before and during the event.

Thanks again
-Triker Pete.
