Mouse’s street sleeper Anglia
Right, where do I start?
This car is what’s known as a sleeper. A standard looking car, hiding decidedly non-standard running gear. I tried to keep her looking as original as possible, but hiding under the bonnet was a 1600 cross flow Ford Escort engine and manual box. It also ran a matching mark 2 Ford Escort rear axle while the front end and steering were original Ford Anglia. All I did to the front end was change the brakes to Ford Escort discs, using the original stub axles. It worked out great. The chassis was boxed for extra strength. I fitted a pedal box from a Metro. The wiper blades & motor were from a Land Rover and the wheels where from a Hillman Husky.
From the outside the car looked like an original Anglia but it went like hell!
